The obligations have been met

The NOx Fund can now document that the emission obligations for 2007-2010 laid down in the Environmental Agreement on NOx have been met.

According to the Environmental Agreements point 3.2 the business organisations shall make sure that the annual NOx emissions are reduced by 2 000 tonnes by the end of 2008, 4 000 tonnes in 2009, and 12 000 tonnes in 2010. 7000 tonnes of the 2010 obligation can be implemented in 2011.

As of 21 November 2011 DNV has verified implemented measures which represent a reduction of 14 432,60 tonnes. As of 8 April 2011 DNV has verified 240 implemented measures representing a reduction of 11 446 tonnes, calculating from from 1 January 2008 and until the end of 1st quarter 2011. This documents that the reduction obligations in the Environmental Agreement for 2008, 2009 and 5 000 tonnes of the obligations for 2010 have been met. Part of the obligations for 2010 has thereby been overfulfilled with 446 tonnes.

Verified measures implemented in 2006 and 2007 are also higher than the 1000 tonnes NOx laid down in the Agreement.

If all applied-for measures are implemented as implied until the end of 2011, the business organisations are very likely to fulfil a total emission reduction obligation that will bring the emissions in the sectors covered by the agreement down to less than 98 000 tonnes NOx annually as set out in the Environmental Agreement.
