Cooperation between NHO and Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues

Representatives from the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam who teaches at Long Thanh Vocational Training School and Mr. Huynh Tan Thuyet who is an assistant director of Toyota Vietnam paid a visit to The Norwegian Confederation of Enterprises (NHO) on the 5th to the 12th of November. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the structure, services and activities of its sister organization NHO with special emphasis on its role in vocational training.

VCCI has taken the initiative to develop a training model for vocational training based on the Norwegian 2 +2 model. In Vietnam, there is little cooperation between schools and industry. This means that those who take their education at the school find it difficult to be eligible for work in the industry when they graduate.

The first area of focus for this project has been within the auto/car industry. As a result of this project the school has been able to link up with those industries that are interested in being involved in developing the schools. During their stay in Norway the two delegates from Vietnam visited Tønsberg and under the guidance of Mr Kurt Nilssen from NHO Vestfold they attended meetings at Ferder high school. Two day meetings were held at Toyota and Volvo dealers in the area. What made the most impression to the delegates was how confident the students were in the vocational training they were getting and how committed the industries are to get the most and the best result out of the training.

This visit will be followed up by Kurt Nilssen and John Risnes's travel to Vietnam in early December to establish a cooperation instrument between schools and businesses and to educate those in the VCCI and the authorities to coordinate activities.
This will eventually be expanded to include other areas later, such as food and restaurant as well as health.
