Norway’s ambassador to Angola Jon Vea encouraged Norwegian companies to invest in Angola and work with the public sector in areas that will introduce a strong culture of Corporate Social Responsibility. Ambassador Vea said Angola is an attractive point of investment for Norwegian companies because of its political stability and potential economic strength.

Ambassador Vea emphasised that it is important for companies to not only join forces but to think long term and strategically, taking into account projects that can be executed in collaboration with government, while at the same time making profits.

On Wednesday the 10th of February the Private Sector Development Programme’s Africa Network met yet again at a dinner hosted by NHO. The group consists of NHO’s member companies that  already have established businesses in Africa as well as those Norwegian companies looking to invest in Africa. The network meetings provide an opportunity for member companies to not only network but also alert each other of possible projects of cooperation that are not only profit driven but sustainable.

In this vein Norway’s ambassador to Ethiopia Jens Petter Kjemprud encouraged the companies present to come up with ideas that can stimulate private industry growth. He challenged Norwegian companies especially those involved in hydro power to take time and find investment opportunities in Ethiopia. In addition he informed the audience that his embassy staff stand ready to provide the necessary logistical pointers for Norwegian companies who decide to venture in Ethiopia. Ambassador Kjemprud said local partners are possible to locate in many areas of business, adding that there are many potential areas for investment. He gave examples of coffee exports and coffee production.
