Nigeria is one of Norway’s cooperating partners in Africa. NHO's cooperation with its Nigerian sister organizations, Nigeria Employer’s Consultative Association (NECA) and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) was established in 2002, after the NHO Secretariat for Private Sector Development was founded.

The project's aim was to assist NECA and MAN explore the possibility of merging the two organizations. The merger was rejected by MAN at their AGM.

In 2005 a cooperation project was established between NHO and NECA. The first objective was to establish a network of women entrepreneurs in Lagos. Two hundred and fifty - 250 business women with their own companies developed NECA's network for entrepreneurial women, NNEW, into an ongoing training, inspiration and peer coaching group. This network has been a success. In 2009 they started a Chapter in the capital, Abuja and by 2014 the goal is to have 6 chapters in all 6 geopolitical zones. In addition a Small Medium Enterprise (SME) network with the same objectives has also been established.

NHO is also the technical advisor to an interesting project between NECA and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). ITF is trying to start 8 centers of Excellence in vocational training in Companies, Training intstitutions and technical colleges. This is a major effort in trying to improve and increase the bulk of qualified technical personnel that is a severe bottleneck for economic development.

NHO also supports a new Youth Self Employment project that was launched in 2010. This is an effort to train the youth with good business ideas in entrpreneurship.

In Nigeria NHO is cooperating with Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA)thumbs/necalogo_1.gif
