Support to strengthen the framework for Private Sector Development is part of the development cooperation between Norway and Vietnam. To contribute to strengthen Employer- and Business organisations is also a part of this cooperation. Institutions that are necessary for building national and local infrastructure and thus predictable national framework for Private sector Development.

NHO has entered into cooperation with its Sister Organisation the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). A Letter of Intent concerning institutionalised cooperation between VCCI and NHO was signed in Oslo June 17th 2004.

The Organisation was established in 1997 and has 6.000 member companies. In addition to other official commissions, VCCI has gained in status as the leading Employer Organisation in Vietnam and is functioning as an important Umbrella Organisation for the different sectors.

The Superior target for Cooperation is to strengthen VCCI as an Employer Organisation and as a strong, independent part in working life. Through thematic seminars, NHO is aiming to transfer competence and experiences with regard to the Norwegian model of Tripartism, Labour relations, Occupational safety and health (OSH), Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and questions concerning the Privatisation of State owned enterprises.

The objective of this cooperation is also strengthening VCCI as an Employer Organisation by making it attractive and appealing for Member companies. Among other goals to develop a strategy for member recruiting and building competence.
