Norwegian Business Centre opened its doors in May this year. This is the result of an initiative from The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) to set up an office for Norwegian start-up enterprises in Uganda.
The cooperation between NHO and FUE first started during the 1990s. In the last 5 years this cooperation has expanded into 3 main programmes:
The East African Region (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi) is about to become a single investment destination. The 3rd EAC Investment Conference held in Kampala from 28th – 30th April 2010 focused on investment opportunities in the region and dialogue between the business community, investors and public officials.

NHO’s Africa Network, a diverse group of companies large and small with business interests in Africa, met on the 2nd of June for another networking meeting. This time the focus was on East Africa and its energy potential.
During the first week of may the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) together with the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a delegation from Brazil comprising of government officials, representatives from labour organisations and business member organisations. The delegation visited Norway under the auspices of the two countries Social Dialogue Programme. The delegation’s visit focused on matters surrounding Norway’s Tripartite System.
The Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) launched its women’s chapter Friday 6th march at the Serena Hotel in Kampala. The women’s chapter has decided to adapt a version of the Norwegian Female Future program in order to increase the number of women chief executive officers (CEOs) in Ugandan companies.
Norway’s ambassador to Angola Jon Vea encouraged Norwegian companies to invest in Angola and work with the public sector in areas that will introduce a strong culture of Corporate Social Responsibility. Ambassador Vea said Angola is an attractive point of investment for Norwegian companies because of its political stability and potential economic strength.

The Fourth ministerial Conference of The Forum on China-Africa cooperation (FOCAC) was held in Egypt November 2009. During the meeting the Chinese government announced eight new measures that will strengthen China-Africa cooperation in the next 3 years.
NHO’s sister organisation, The Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) has started the implementation phase of a project initiated in collaboration with NHO to establish ‘Centers of Excellence’ in vocational training at two of Nigeria’s best Science and Technology Colleges in Lagos and Abuja.
