Affiliation to the new Agreement

Enterprises may join the Environmental Agreement on NOx 2011-2017 by submitting the Participant Agreement.

On 14 December 2010 15 Business Organisations and the Ministry of the Environment signed a new Environmental Agreement on NOx 2011–2017, which is a continuation of the 2008-2010 NOx Agreement. The Agreement enters into force from 1st January 2011, as soon as the Agreement has been approved by the EFTA Surveillance Authority.

Enterprises wishing to join the NOx Fund need to sign the Norwegian version of the Participant Agreement 2011-2017 and submit it to the Fund. Participation is confirmed through the issuing of a Participant Certificate from the Business Sector’s NOx-fund. This document is required in order to be granted an exemption from the payment of fiscal NOx tax of NOK 16.43 from 1st January 2011. The rates of payment to the NOx-fund in 2011 are NOK 11 per kg NOx for oil and gas exploration and NOK 4 for all other sectors. The rates have been unchanged since 2008.

By signing the Participant Agreement before 30th June 2011 the company will obtain exemption from the fiscal NOx-tax from 1st January 2011. Joining the Agreement 2011-2017 is also necessary to obtain support from the NOx-fund for future NOx-reducing measures.
