EU recommends the NOx Fund

The European Commission will explore ways to encourage the industry and public sector to set-up a fund - similar to the Norwegian NOx Fund - to stimulate abatement technology, research etc.

The Commission writes this in the working paper “Pollutant emission reduction from maritime transport and the sustainable waterborne transport toolbox”.

The working paper is written in connection with the Directive 1999/32/EC regarding the sulphur content of certain liquid fuels and emission reduction from maritime transport.

- The positive results from the NOx Fund’s work have been noticed by the Commission, we are very pleased by the mentioning, says Geir Høibye, manager in the NOx Fund.
