The Environmental Agreement approved by ESA

On 19th May 2011 the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) approved the Environmental Agreement on NOx 2011-2017, and the Environmental Agreement has entered into force.

- This is great news, says Geir Høibye, manager in the NOx Fund. The NOx Fund may grant support to new NOx reducing measures in the years to come, and thereby contribute to reduce Norway’s emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx), so that Norway may achieve its international environmental obligations.

Affiliation
By signing the Participant Agreement before 30th June 2011 the enterprise will obtain exemption from the fiscal NOx-tax from 1st January 2011. Enterprises that sign the Agreement after this date are entitled to a tax exemption from the date which the enterprise joins the Environmental Agreement. Over 527 enterprises have signed the Participant Agreement 2011-2017 so far, of which 494 also joined the Environmental Agreement 2008-2010.

Support to measures
Applications received in 2011 for new buildings or retrofitting to gas propulsion with implementation from 2011 and before the end of 2015 may receive up to 80 % support, maximum up to NOK 350 per kg NOx reduced. You may read more about our new and higher support rates to other measures here.
