The NOx Fund supports two new tugs built for gas

Publisert:13.12.11

The company Buksér og Berging will have their two new tugs operating on gas. The two boats will be running to Kårstø for Statoil.

Following a tender Buksér og Berging won the contract with Statoil, running over ten years. The two tugs will be ready in September 2013 and are two out of a total of forty-one boats running on LNG in Norwegian waters today. The motors will only run on LNG, and will not be duel-fuel where both gas and diesel is utilised. The two tugs will be equipped  with engines on 1.700 kWh each, according to the article from Teknisk Ukeblad.

The NOx Fund has decided to support Buksér og Berging financially in their building of the two tugs. The expected reduction in NOx emissions following the running on gas amounts to a compensation from the Fund of up to 350 NOK per kilo NOx reduced. For the two tugs this means 8.7 million NOK and 9.1 million NOK. This represents the Fund's maksimum support rate for new installations and rebuilding for gas consumption, for applications recieved in 2011 and 2012.
