Harmful air pollution

Air pollution is the single largest environmental health risk in Europe. It shortens people’s lifespan and contributes to serious illnesses.

This is stated in a report published by the European Environment Agency (EEA). The EEA estimates that air pollution is responsible for more than 430 000 premature deaths in Europe, in addition to serious illnesses such as heart diesease, respiratory problems and cancer. Reducing air polution is therefor important for public health.
