Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

For decades, the NHO has been an active player in the field of corporate social responsibility, at home and abroad.
Building on the ten principles of the UN Global Compact (the NHO joined the initiative in 2003), we work in various arenas to promote CSR in companies and to raise public awareness of the issue. A number of guidance documents and tools for companies have been developed, and seminars/workshops are organised on a regular basis.
The NHO acts as the coordinator for the UN Global Compact Network in Norway, and we have established a Sustainability Forum for our members. The Forum regularly stages seminars and workshops. The NHO has also been active in promoting the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) among member companies, and engaging with them to discover relevant business opportunities. The NHO has drafted a comprehensive document on how the private sector is contributing to the attainment of the SDGs.
The NHO is also the regional partner in Norway for World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the international network for the leading business corporations in the field of sustainable development and CSR.
